Japanese History: From the Edo period to Meiji Restoration

Even though this website was made to celebrate the awesomeness of Japan, some people think that the over emphasis on the weird and silly aspects of Japanese culture makes this site racist. I just can't take the hate mail anymore, so WTFJS is changing its format starting today. Instead of weird funny videos from Japan, I will be posting informative documentaries on the rich history of Japan. Today's video is the history of Japan between the Edo period and Meiji Restoration. This is part 1, I will be posting parts 2-6 throughout the rest of this week. Next week we'll go into the Heian period's Fujiwara clan. Enjoy.

So wait, Japan's history wasn't full of diet water, flying panties, and horny robots?

You know what, this site IS racist, and your sarcastic attempt at ridiculing the haters just makes you a coward. Go on wtfjapanseriouslyers and laugh, LAUGH, but this WILL come back to you.

Thank Goodness the racism stopped! :D

hmmm i doesn't find all stuff racist but i guess i don't read the english bytext, if you understand japanese in the vids is just normal stuff .... (by the way crazy/racist stuff is everywhere (just remembering my homeland (german) history ... a slight funny blog on its history would be way more racist ;) and i guess there is no german who would do that because it's so a delicate topic )
